FAQ

Questions & Answers

I’m an award winner. What now?

  1. Please provide your consent by Friday, May 1, 2020 at midnight, for IABC/Toronto to mention you on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and/or Facebook. Only one consent completion per organization is necessary. CLICK HERE
  2. Please have each member of your team register for the Virtual Winner’s Reception by Friday, May 1, 2020 at midnight. If you have not received an email with the registration link, email toronto-info@iabc.to.
  3. Engage with us during the month of May via our social media channels:
    • #OVATION20
    • @IABCToronto (Twitter)
    • @iabctoronto (Instagram)
    • @IABC/Toronto (Facebook and LinkedIn)

Will there be a physical gala this year?

No. While every year we look forward to recognizing all of our winners in person, this year, that is not possible in light of current events. Instead, we’ll be recognizing our winners virtually.

May is Award Month, and we’ll be talking about best communications practices, and the award-winning entries that exemplify them. Join the conversation, congratulate our winners, or do both!

I’m an award winner. Will I still get a plaque or statue?

Yes. We will be reaching out with more information when we have a better idea of timelines, but we will be sending you your physical awards.

We encourage you to post a photo with your award once it arrives.

Will there be a virtual event?

Yes. There will be a virtual reception on May 7, 2020, 7 to 8:30 p.m. EDT for all winners, judges and sponsors. All winners, judges and sponsors should already have received an invitation via email with a registration link. If you’ve not received your invitation, please contact toronto-info@iabc.to.

This will be a zoom meet-up and all registrants will receive a link the morning of the event.

Are we able to extend the invitation for staff and clients to attend the Virtual Winners Reception?

Absolutely! Anyone who contributed to the award-winning campaign is invited to attend, along with judges and sponsors.

What will the digital campaign look like?

  • Celebration reception – May 7, 2020, 7 to 8:30 p.m.  EDT
  • Webpages on toronto.iabc.com listing winners, judges and People’s Choice entries, as of May 1, 2020
  • Twitter and Instagram posts linking best communications practices to award-winning campaigns, as of May 11, 2020
  • LinkedIn and Facebook articles about awards, judges and the overall campaign, as of May 1, 2020
  • Infographics about the awards and judges
  • People’s Choice vote – Announcement at the end of May
  • Dedicated days during the month of May for Awards of Distinction

I’m a sponsor. How will I be recognized?

We’re excited to offer sponsorship opportunities year-after-year with organizations in the GTA who themselves exemplify industry excellence. This year, in lieu of recognition at our physical gala we’ll be recognizing you via:

  • Logo placement and mention on OVATION Awards web pages
  • Logo placement and mention in two e-Lert posts during the month of May
  • Logo placement on imagery for social media theme days (minimum seven)
  • Recognition at the Virtual Winner’s Reception and a few moments to speak
  • Logo placement and mention in the OVATION Winning Entries booklets

Will the list of winners be released anywhere prior to May 7 at 7 p.m.?

Yes. We’ll be launching our Award Month on May 1, 2020 by announcing our winners and directing followers to the full list, available on our website.

When will the Awards of Distinction be announced?

Awards of Distinction will be announced at the Virtual Winner’s Reception. After that, they will be visible on the IABC/Toronto website on our “2020 Champions of the North” web page.

How can I vote for the People’s Choice award?

As in past years, the People’s Choice voting will take place during May. Voting will be available as of May 1, 2020. Follow the links on the IABC/Toronto website, in our e-Lert and through our social media posts to review and vote for your preferred campaign.

I’m an award winner and I’ve been asked to film an acceptance video. What are the guidelines?

Congratulations! We’re looking forward to seeing your acceptance video, should you choose to film one.

Because you will be responding to our posts with your video, there is no due date. However, should you choose to film an acceptance video, we encourage you to have it completed by May 11, which is when our dedicated social posts will begin.

If you’ve won more than one award, you may choose to film more than one video; however, consider capping the number of acceptance videos at 3-4.

Video filming guidelines were sent via email to all award winners. View these HERE.
