IABC Canada Names 2016 Master Communicators

December 1, 2016 ― The International Association of Business Communicators Canada (IABC Canada) has named Allison MacKenzie, ABC of Calgary and Lynn Barter, ABC of St. John’s as this year’s recipients of the prestigious Master Communicator designation.

The IABC Master Communicator designation is the association’s highest honour in Canada. It recognizes outstanding career achievements; contributions to the communications profession; thought leadership, teaching and writing in communications; service and leadership in IABC; and overall contributions to the community.

Master Communicators are nominated by other communicators. The nominations are reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of IABC members from across Canada who hold the Master Communicator designation.

“Both Allison and Lynn are recognized as communication leaders, accomplished professionals and dedicated volunteers,” said Jacqui d’Eon ABC, MC and Chair of the 2016 Master Communicator Selection Committee. “Each of them has done outstanding work, made enormous contributions to our profession, and enriched the lives of their colleagues, clients and communities.”

Lynn Barter, ABC, Associate Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, St. John’s

Lynn has contributed thousands of volunteer hours to further the communication profession, helping communication professionals and business executives grow their knowledge and advance their careers through strategic communication, and being a champion for the Association through her work. Lynn is a past president of IABC NL, a past chair of IABC Canada East and current Gold Quill chair. She is a strong role model for those aspiring to a career in our profession and an inspiration to those who work with her.
