FAQ

1. What can cause an entry to be disqualified?

An entry may be disqualified if:

  • It is not submitted and paid for by the deadline
  • It is submitted in the wrong division or category
  • Information is incomplete or inaccurate
  • The entry is not submitted through the online system
  • The work plan exceeds the page limit or does not follow guidelines
  • The work plan or work sample is missing
  • The work is not your own
  • Key creative contributions are not acknowledged
  • A required letter of permission is missing
2. Can I keep my work plan private?

Yes, you can select a privacy option during submission if the content is proprietary.

3. Do I need to include budget information?

Yes, missing budget information will result in a penalty. If exact figures cannot be shared, an approximate budget is acceptable. You can mark the information confidential during submission.

4. If my entry won in another IABC/Toronto awards program, will it win here, too?

No, each entry is judged independently against the criteria for its category.

5. Do judges check formatting requirements?

Yes, incorrect margins, page limits or formatting errors may result in disqualification.

6. What happens to entries after judging is complete?

All submissions will be deleted by June 30, 2026. Only authorized users can access the secure online system.

7. Can I submit my entry in a binder or in person?

No, all entries must be submitted through the online system.

8. My testimonial letters mention another awards program. Do they need to be rewritten?

No, you may use ellipses (…) within the letter to remove unrelated wording.

9. Do testimonial letters need to be signed?

Email testimonials are acceptable if they include the sender’s name and date. Electronic signatures are acceptable.

10. Can winners order extra statues or plaques?

Yes, details will be included in the winners package in March 2026.

11. Can I pay by cheque or another offline method?

No, payments must be completed online at the time of submission.

12. I became an IABC/Toronto member after creating my entry. Can I update my rate?

If your entry has not been paid for or submitted, you can update your membership under “Entrant.” The rate will adjust at checkout. If you have already submitted or paid, contact the IABC/Toronto office.
