IABC/Toronto’s Bobbie Resnick Student of the Year Award (SOTY)
IABC/Toronto offers awards to students to help accelerate their careers and support the next generation of communications professionals.
Starting in 2017, IABC/Toronto changed the name of the Student of the Year Award to the IABC/Toronto Bobbie Resnick Student of the Year Award.
Bobbie Resnick started her communications career in 1957 in the United States and later moved to Canada. In the corporate world and as an independent consultant, she worked in a variety of communications specialties. She was also a teacher sharing her skills with clients, colleagues and students. Bobbie is now retired and living in Michigan. Renaming the award in her honour is a tribute to her many years of service to IABC/Toronto as a volunteer and mentor.
Congratulations to Jacob Robinson, the 2021 IABC/Toronto Student of the Year!
We’re delighted to announce that the recipient of the 2021 IABC/Toronto Bobbie Resnick Student of the Year (SOTY) Award is Jacob R. Robinson, CAPM!
Jacob is a fourth-semester student at Humber College’s Public Relations Advanced Diploma program and is also involved in a number of impressive initiatives. He is the editor of Humber College’s First Year Experience Student Life website, working to promote the College’s accessible events through innovative copywriting and search engine optimization. He also works as an on-campus senior mentor, providing mentees with resources, information and tips on how to succeed in their academics and other areas of their lives.
Outside of Humber College, Jacob is an IABC/Toronto volunteer who supports various chapter initiatives and currently serves as the president of the Eglinton – Yonge Toastmasters club. In February 2021, Jacob earned his Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification, as he would like to integrate his interest in project management with his passion for public relations.
Despite working two jobs and juggling academic and volunteer initiatives, Jacob has managed to maintain a 4.0 grade point average.
Jacob is a rising star that we should all keep our eye on!
