Member Spotlight: Annette Martell, ABC, MC, Fellow

Regenerate, reimagine & rapidly respond are Annette’s actions when inspiring others. She invites them to lead — & lean into – the possibilities of uncertainty. During SARS in 2003, as chair of IABC’s Executive Board, volunteer & staff efforts were aligned so Toronto could host the annual world conference. Timely speakers stepped in: Malcolm Gladwell & The City’s SARS crisis response team.

Her outlook: “When ‘the why’ is clear & compelling, you can flex on ‘the how’ of reaching a goal.” Her various communication & leadership roles include: Grant Thornton, Advocis, Mercer, Acadia University & RBC. “I’m drawn to teams where we define, design & deploy what’s needed.”

Responding to the evolving demands facing leaders, led Annette to become an ICF-certified Executive Coach. “I seamlessly integrate a coaching approach with my change strategist’s expertise so those leading bold initiatives can tap into their team’s top performance to reach extraordinary enterprise and personal results.”  Her practice supports teams from: financial & professional services, mining, big-box retail and government agencies.

When outdoors, Annette kayaks through ocean waves, canoes on calm lakes and snowshoes wooded trails. These are her real-time studies into teamwork, adaptability & problem-solving. “When you’re offshore and the wind & waves suddenly pick up, efforts turn to how will we adapt to this unfolding situation?”

Annette Martell, Executive Leadership Coach & Change Strategist
