As communicators, we often wear many hats – we are marketers, designers, project managers, learning consultants, change management professionals – you name it! I don’t know about you, but I’ve dipped my toes into way more aspects of the organizational machine than I ever expected in my career so far. But this is expected, especially in the fast-paced, constantly changing world we live in now.
Change management became an integral part of the operational model for many organizations worldwide, and there is no change that can happen without effective communication. As communicators, we help guide organizations and clients through changes all the time – be it new product/tool launches, mergers, office closures/moves, and even major digital/organizational transformations. In this issue of IABC/Toronto Communicator – “Project and Change Management in the Communications Industry” – we are exploring interconnectivity between communications and change management work, and best practices that can help you become a better change management partner for your organization/client(s).
Audrey Hood discusses the stages of change and tactics leaders and communicators can take to help support people through the process.
Krista Henry offers a look at how young communicators are honing their project and change management skills by helping turn small businesses around through digital transformation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Felicia Empey shares her ongoing journey of transitioning her career from communications and public relations to more strategic, change management-focused work.
