Member Spotlight: Brad Cicero

Director, Communications & Public Affairs, Porter Airlines

Brad Cicero was introduced to IABC just as his career was forming. While completing a Journalism Degree from Carleton University, Brad worked during successive summer breaks as part of an award-winning public sector communications department. “The leaders on that team really valued the professional development and relationships that IABC offers,” said Cicero. “I’ve always remembered this and try to take advantage of the opportunities that membership provides.”

After graduating, Brad moved to a full-time independent agency role. For nearly a decade, he worked with a diverse client base, including those in the consumer goods, telecommunications and transportation industries. The agency transitioned to become part of a global network, an experience that provided additional insight into the business of communications at an international level.

Brad’s move to Porter Airlines was a chance to join a start-up where he has been able to influence the company’s brand from the outset. He is a company spokesperson and leads a team responsible for every aspect of internal and external communications, working closely with executives to promote initiatives, manage issues and engage team members.

As Porter emerges from the pandemic, the communications team is playing a crucial role in re-establishing its core business. It is also working to introduce an exciting growth plan that will see the airline begin flying across North America in 2022 using a new fleet of aircraft.
