Member Spotlight: Randa Bassil

Communications Coordinator at Halton Children’s Aid Society and Social Media Coordinator with Migraine Canada

Randa is a communications professional with more than 17 years in the public and not-for-profit sectors. She is passionate about raising awareness of important issues in today’s society. As an advocate for vulnerable communities, she likes to use her communications experience to give a voice to those in need and support institutions that align with her purpose. Randa’s work includes complicated topics such as human rights and human trafficking.

Randa is experienced in media relations, social media management, creative writing and research. She also coaches spokespeople to deliver their narrative efficiently through traditional and new media. She believes that everyone has a story to tell, and creating the right content is a key element of sharing that story.

Her experience in the non-profit sector led her to propose a special-interest committee of not-for-profit communicators at IABC’s Toronto Chapter. “This sector has been greatly impacted by COVID-19 and non-profits have to come up with innovative strategies to continue to reach out to the community and maintain strong relationships with their supporters,” she said.

Randa is also a certified community interpreter in English and Arabic.  She is a mom of two teenage girls and a graduate of English Literature and language, with French minor.
