Member Spotlight: Augustine Fischer

Information Coordinator, City of Mississauga

Augustine Fischer is a communications leader with a passion for storytelling, content creation and public relations while driving stakeholder engagement and enhancing brand reputation. He has worked across financial, energy, retail and logistics sectors in Europe, Africa and North America. In these sectors, Augustine creates value, aligns business and communication strategies and helps business leaders better communicate their perspectives internally and externally.

As a new immigrant to Canada, Augustine joined IABC to expand his network of communicators in Canada and gain exposure to development and volunteer opportunities. Since joining IABC/Toronto, Augustine has volunteered his time and skills as the Director of Communication for the Professional Independent Communicators (PIC) group and leads the group’s newsletter and social media channels.

“IABC has provided me with the opportunity to meet people and build my professional network in a new country faster than it would have taken me if I met them while in an industry setting. Communication constantly evolves and it is necessary as communicators to keep abreast of the latest trends,” said Fischer. “This is easier when you have a network of like-minded professionals who continuously share their experiences for others to learn.”

Augustine graduated with an MBA with a marketing focus and completed a graduate certificate in content strategy.
