A letter from the Editor in Chief
It can be easy to look back over the few years and be overwhelmed by the global events that have happened and the changes they brought forth – some have been good and others we wish had never happened. This is why thinking about the future can be a daunting task – there are so many unknowns and variables that make it hard to evaluate and assess what will really happen. But as communicators we have to be looking forward.
The world of communications is changing in front of our eyes – standard processes are quickly outdated, our choice of tools is expanding, we have to constantly reinvent the way we work, and find new ways of communicating and engaging with our audiences. Keeping up with these times is no easy feat.
In the face of the rapidly changing communications landscape and emerging trends, like the hybrid model of traditional and digital communication practices, communicators worldwide must become what I like to call “future-ready” – cultivating an agile mindset to adapt to the changes and thrive in them.
This is why, in this edition of the Communicator – “Communications and Technology” – we are exploring new digital ways of communicating and engaging with our audiences, stakeholders, and communities and how to navigate them.
Caterina Valentino highlights how we can stay vigilant in the face of information warfare in “Information Warfare’s Prime Directive: Truth.”
In “Five Networking Lessons Learned as a Virtual Board Member” Jacqueline Janelle offers tips on how to make connections and keep engaged with your network virtually.
Finally, Suzanne Huggins reminds us that knowing your audience is essential to successful communication campaigns in a post-pandemic world in “Who is Your Audience?
Enjoy this issue and stay future-ready!
