February, 21, 2020, TORONTO – The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)/Toronto has selected Jodi Kovitz, the CEO and Founder of #movethedial, as its Communicator of the Year (COTY) for 2019. Kovitz was selected as a finalist by the IABC/Toronto Board who identified her as a standout among 21 qualified nominees.
Kovitz is the CEO and Founder of #movethedial, a global movement dedicated to advancing the participation and advancement of all women in tech. Through Kovitz’s leadership, #movethedial has attracted more than 100 champions and advisors globally and has engaged more than 50,000 people through the power of storytelling, and is driving substantive, measurable change. #movethedial helps top tier companies attract, advance and retain women in tech through partnerships, a global events platform and a talent acceleration technology platform. #movethedial also consults with companies to help them create holistic diversity and equity strategies to help these companies ensure that their teams are a place where everyone is championed for their differences, and that the products they build are designed for the entire population they serve.
Kovitz is widely recognized as a leader in her field. Among her numerous awards and accomplishments, Kovitz was recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019 & 2017, and in 2018 as one of Canada’s Top 25 most Powerful Women by Women of Influence.

IABC/Toronto’s Communicator of the Year Award recognizes a Greater Toronto Area executive whose demonstrated leadership and communications skills drive business results, or have had a substantially positive influence on the community. The Communicator of the Year exemplifies excellence in communications and demonstrates a strong commitment to communication in their professional work.
Kovitz will formally receive the award at the Top Six in the 6ix Conference, where she will give a talk and sign copies of her book, “Go Out of Your Way: How One Small Act Can Move the Dial in Business and Life”.
