Irene Alifanova is a strategic communications professional with a decade of experience leading enterprise-wide communications and change management programs across B2B and B2C sectors—telecommunications, benefits consulting, financial services, and fleet management. In her current role as Manager, Enterprise Communications at Scotiabank, Irene focuses on CEO communications, internal and external thought leadership, and global employee engagement.

As a Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CLSSYB), Irene brings a process‑driven mindset to communications by leveraging technology and data‑driven insights to streamline workflows, improve collaboration across teams, and enhance communications effectiveness. She cares deeply about inclusion, accessibility, and continuous improvement, creating workplace culture where people and ideas thrive.

A long‑standing IABC contributor—Editor in Chief of Communicator (2020–2022), VP Volunteers & Mentorship (2022–2023), VP Finance & Chapter Management (2023), and VP Volunteers & Mentorship (2024–2025)—Irene gives back to the communications community by mentoring early‑career communicators, improving member experience, and helping create space where connection and knowledge‑sharing thrive.

She holds a Graduate Certificate (with Honours) in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Centennial College, and a Bachelor’s degree (Hons.) in History and Social Anthropology from York University.
