Communications Advisor, OntarioMD
It’s an exciting time in healthcare communications. Jamie Louie, a strategic communications professional with over a decade of experience, knows this firsthand.
In her current role, Jamie is at the centre of digital health innovation. She delivers communication strategies to support clinicians’ adoption of digital health and virtual care tools across Ontario, like those that support the administration of COVID-19 vaccines. “My job is to bring awareness to the important and critical work that we do,” she says. “Good and reliable healthcare helps make lives easier. I love contributing to that impact.”
Hailing from Vancouver, Jamie first joined the IABC in 2010. Moving to Toronto, the IABC/Toronto chapter provided an instant network and sightline into the profession at a local level. Now a member of five years, she values the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for storytelling and to keep up with the latest trends and best practices.
A creative storyteller at heart, Jamie continues her career trajectory taking on senior communication roles, raising the profile of organizations and embracing the challenges of healthcare communications. Her key to success? Building a strong network.
“Success in communications is about building and cultivating meaningful relationships. I feel that we can’t do our jobs without the people around us. We are often not the content or subject matter experts, so we collaborate with others and build on their knowledge to spread the word.”
Jamie graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in English (Language) and completed a postgraduate certificate in Public Relations from Humber College.
