History
Originally called the Alliance of Independent Practitioners (AIP), an IABC/Toronto group for solo professionals was formed in September 1998. A few members met regularly to discuss specific topics, refine our mandate and develop productive ways to create a presence in IABC. Now named Professional Independent Communicators (PIC), this group of independents has more than 75 members – most of whom have been IABC members for many years and have actively volunteered in different IABC/Toronto portfolios and activities.
“I was the representative from the Board (as past president) when PIC first got started, and the group was so small back then. It’s really evolved! Great to see it become such a vibrant community.” – Priya Bates, ABC, MC
Who can participate in PIC activities?
Any IABC/Toronto member who is an independent practitioner or who has an interest in becoming one can join — free of charge. This is an added value for your IABC membership. Guests are also welcome to attend events.
