Join IABC/Toronto for a networking breakfast as we celebrate the Communicator of the Year
Thursday, April 24, 8 to 10 a.m.
Centre for Urban Innovation, Toronto Metropolitan University
Since 1997, IABC/Toronto’s Communicator of the Year Award has recognized a Greater Toronto Area executive whose demonstrated leadership and communications skills drive business results or have had a substantially positive influence on the community. The Communicator of the Year is not necessarily in a communication role; however, the recipient of the award is someone who uses the power of communication to deepen understanding, inspire action and transform their community.
This year, IABC/Toronto is pleased to announce that Rebecca Shields, CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association, has been named IABC/Toronto’s 2024 Communicator of the Year.
Rebecca is recognized for her exceptional leadership in communication, her commitment to mental health advocacy, and her visionary work in fostering inclusive and supportive communities.
Under Rebecca’s leadership, CMHA York Region & South Simcoe has grown into one of Canada’s largest and fastest-growing CMHA branches, supporting over 22,000 individuals annually through 32+ mental health and addiction programs and services. Her achievements include growing agency revenues from $8 million to $42 million and earning accolades like Canadian non-profit employer of choice for seven consecutive years and Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures.
Rebecca will be honoured at an in-person award ceremony scheduled April 24, 2025, at the Centre for Urban Innovation, Toronto Metropolitan University.
The event includes a fireside chat with Rebecca Shields about the Power of Communication in Mental Health and Addiction Recovery.
This ceremony is a great opportunity for business communicators to get together, find inspiration in the COTY winner’s journey and celebrate communication excellence! Join us for breakfast and networking while we hear Rebecca’s story on April 24. Register today!
