IABC/Toronto’s OVATION Awards celebrate the GTA’s top creative talent
TORONTO, June 17, 2022 – The Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Toronto) celebrated the 37th annual OVATION Awards (#OVATION22) yesterday evening, in a fun-filled evening emceed by Arisa Cox, Canadian Screen Award-winning host and executive producer of Big Brother Canada.
Each year, IABC/Toronto celebrates the talent and creative brilliance of the Greater Toronto Area’s (GTA’s) marketing, communication and public relations community through the prestigious OVATION Awards. The awards recognize industry excellence across various disciplines, including corporate communications, public relations, media relations, advertising campaigns and more.
Along with OVATION Award winners and the winners of the six awards of distinction, the event honoured the recipients of IABC Canada’s 2021 Master Communicator (MC) Maliha Aqeel PMP®, SCMP®, MC; IABC/Toronto’s 2022 Volunteer of the Year Marian Neglia; and the 2022 Bobbi Resnik Student of the Year Natalie Banaszak.
“Congratulations to all our OVATION Award winners,” said IABC/Toronto President Mandy Gibson. “Our industry-leading evaluators were deeply impressed with the quality of the entries. Close to 170 entries were submitted this year, and we are proud to have been able to come together to celebrate the award winners whose work has been evaluated against the Global Standard of the Communications Profession using IABC’s Seven-Point Scale of Excellence.”

The Ovation Awards just got even more exciting! IABC/ Toronto is thrilled to announce that Arisa Cox, host and executive producer of the wildly popular Canadian reality show, Big Brother Canada, is hosting the IABC/ Toronto OVATION Awards 2022 in person on June 16 at the Berkeley Fieldhouse.

Cox started her career in journalism as a local news reporter in Ottawa and continued her career in television. Along with hosting Big Brother Canada over the years, Cox has also covered The Grammys, The Oscars, the Sundance and Cannes film festivals, and Survivor for ET Canada. She’s also hosted live events, including the Canadian Screen Awards Gala, the Banff World Media Festival, and the Directors’ Guild of Canada Awards, to name a few.
Cox is a natural and passionate communicator and a champion of equity, specifically in her world of reality television.

IABC/Toronto invites Greater Toronto Area communications and marketing professionals to the sector’s most prestigious awards ceremony, the OVATION Awards.
TORONTO, May 3, 2022 – The Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Toronto) is thrilled to announce that, after two years of virtual events, the 37th annual OVATION Awards event will be held in-person at the Berkeley Fieldhouse on Thursday, June 16, from 6 to 9 PM.
Each year, IABC/Toronto celebrates the talent and creative brilliance of the Greater Toronto Area’s (GTA’s) marketing and communications community through the prestigious OVATION Awards. The awards recognize communications and marketing excellence across a broad range of disciplines, including corporate communications, public relations, media relations, advertising campaigns and more.
“The OVATION Awards ceremony is the event communications, PR and marketing pros wait for all year,” said Mandy Gibson, IABC/Toronto President . “It’s a great opportunity for industry professionals to support and celebrate the best work of our peers. We’re looking forward to welcoming our community back safely to our first in-person awards in two years. The evening promises to be a chance to connect in a casual atmosphere, while getting a front-row seat to celebrating the best talent in the GTA.”
This June 16, IABC/Toronto invites the GTA’s marketing and communications professionals to celebrate the award winners whose work has been evaluated against the Global Standard of the Communications Profession using IABC’s Seven-Point Scale of Excellence.
In addition to the award winners, IABC Canada’s 61st Master Communicator (MC), Maliha Aqeel, PMP®, SCMP®, MC will be honoured at the event for this lifetime achievement. Aqeel is founder and CEO of the IDEAS Collective, a past-president of IABC/Toronto and has been nominated as Vice Chair for IABC’s International Executive Board for 2022-2023.
