A GTA transplant who grew up in a small northern Alberta town, Sylvia Link fell in love with the communications profession during an internship at a hospital PR department while earning her BA in journalism.
During her career, she’s worked in health care, education, child care, government and non-profit sectors before joining RTOERO, a member association of 81,000 education workers and retirees across Canada, as marketing and communications director.
Celebrating her 32nd year as an IABC/Toronto member, Sylvia values the professional learning and collaboration that IABC affords. “Whether at the world conference, a chapter workshop or in a tweet chat, it’s always a joy to connect with other IABC colleagues who speak the same professional language.” She is a regular presenter at workshops and conferences and is a long-serving IABC awards judge.
Sylvia has taught marketing and communication at Sheridan College and University of Guelph. Her passion for communications measurement has led her to conduct numerous communication audits for non-profit and education organizations.
In 2015, Sylvia was the recipient of the IABC Canada Master Communicator designation from IABC Canada. She has received numerous awards, including the Gold Quill Award of Excellence.
