For the last week of our Awards Month, we’re honouring our six Awards of Distinction champs. These teams represent the importance in collaborative communications practices in planning, and implementation of campaigns and programs. Everyone worked together, took a shot, and they scored a victory. Since we couldn’t celebrate together, we’re profiling their great communications work, the best way we can: through digital communications!
In our Small Agency of the Year category, we’re honouring the champions of Craft Public Relations!
Craft was built on a simple philosophy: communications is not a commodity. Organizations operating today need more than a PR agency. They need a communications partner who deeply understands their brand, their business and their story. That’s what Craft offers. Craft provides communication strategy, media relations, influencer relations and social media services for consumer brands in Canada.
To reach and communicate, Craft Public Relations won the following #OVATION20 wins. We’ve included a few highlights and best practices on these championship campaigns:
– Media Relations with budget up to $50K – Award of Excellence: To promote the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Craft Public Relations used Lil’ Ben (a mini horse) to raise interest and drive attendance.
– Media Relations with budget greater than $100K – Award of Merit: To promote Mott’s Fruitsations Apple Sauce, Craft PR partnered with a celebrity spokesperson, Neve Campbell, to endorse this product. They also chose a unique venue when they hosted media at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, Canada’s first publicly funded school. This work also won an #OVATION20 Award of Merit in Special Events.
– Media Relations with budget greater than $100K – Award of Merit: Associate your brand with stylish partners and a compelling experience. That’s what Craft did for the launch of GE Cafe Appliances by creating an exclusive dinner at the AGO with Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski. This campaign also earned an Award of Merit in Special Events.
– Marketing Communications: Award of Merit: Align your communications with cultural moments. While working with Travelzoo, Craft PR delivered significant results by focusing on the International Day of Happiness.
– Marketing Communications: Award of Merit: Amplify unique experiences digitally. To continue to drive interest in Nintendo Switch, Craft PR created a Nintendo Switch Playhouse and shared it on YouTube to its target audience.

Awards of Distinction are determined by adding points from awards won: three points per Award of Excellence and one per Award of Merit.
