RECORDING: The road to becoming an authentic LGBTQQIP2SAA ally

July 1, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

An interactive workshop recorded on Tuesday, May 11, 2021

Diversity and inclusion is a journey, not a destination. Many organizations are taking steps forward to become more diverse, inclusive and create a sense of belonging in their culture. But these efforts must also include trans, intersex, non-binary and Two-Spirit individuals, because:

  1. 1. Organizations need to seek diverse perspectives to better represent their gender and sexually diverse staff, customers and audiences.
  2. 2. They are overlooking valuable talent and thinking based on lived experiences.
  3. 3. They should have ambitions to reflect the world we all share to create spaces where everyone is welcome and celebrated.

To become a more diverse industry, it is important to first improve understanding about how to be inclusive to trans, non-binary and two-spirit professionals, and become an authentic ally now.

Join IABC/Toronto for an interactive workshop with Virgin Mariana Cortes and Angel Glady, two advocates and educators in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit, androgynous and asexual (LGBTQQIP2SAA) community, who bring immense expertise, knowledge and wisdom as trans women to this engaging workshop.

The interactive workshop includes the following elements:

  • • Definitions in the context of the gender and sexual spectrum
  • • The problem with heteronormative language norms
  • • Human rights laws
  • • HR protocols
  • • Scenarios
  • • Ally boot camp

Fees:

$10: IABC member rate ($11.30 with HST)
$15: non-member rate ($16.95 with HST)
