Calling IABC/Toronto members and non-members! Connect with other communications professionals on a picturesque walk through Cedarvale Ravine. Together, we’ll enjoy nature in the heart of Toronto while connecting with the elements. Hike led by Alma Bagundo from Let’s Hike T.O.
Details:
- When: Saturday, October 26, 2024
- Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Where: Cedarvale Ravine
- Starting at St. Clair West Station and ending at Davisville Station. There will be an optional drop-out point at Eglinton West Station.
Start Point: St. Clair West Station, at the entrance of Cedarvale Park (Heath Street Entrance). If you need an accessible entrance please use the North Entrance (in front of Loblaws and the go to the star point). Plan to arrive at the start point at 15 mins before departure time sharp as we aren’t able to wait for latecomers.
End Point: Davisville Station. We will have an optional drop out point at Eglinton West Station.

- $10: IABC/Toronto members ($11.30 with HST)

- How long is this hike?
The hike is 7 km and will be covered at a moderate speed (3km/hour). Difficulty level is beginning (mostly flat surfaces with one incline). Participants will have the option to drop out of the hike mid-way at Eglinton West Station.
- How should I dress for the hike?
The hike will take place regardless of rain, wind, or snow so please dress accordingly! We will only cancel or postpone the hike if weather conditions are considered extreme or dangerous, in which case registered hikers will be informed 48 hours in advance.
– Light layers are recommended as temperatures might drop a bit when we’re in the woods.
– Running or hiking footwear is encouraged. The trail could be muddy when it rains.
- What do I need to bring along?
– Drinking water
– Peanut-free snacks that you might also want to share
– Medicines, etc. if any
– Feel free to bring along anything else that might help you feel more hike-ready (toques, sunscreen, umbrella, rain jacket, bug spray, hat, towel, headband, etc.)
– A backpack to carry all your stuff
- What are the accessibility and safety measures in place?
– This hike has been carefully planned keeping the diverse needs of our members in mind.
– If you need an accessible entrance to get to the starting point, please use the north entrance of St. Clair West Station (in front of Loblaws)
– The trail has mostly flat surfaces with one incline and might not be mobility-device accessible.
– There will be 2 washroom breaks during the hike. There are two public washrooms on the hike route, one after Eglinton West and the other at our final point near Davisville Station.
– Participants will have the option to drop out of the hike mid-way at Eglinton West Station.
– First Aid will be available.

Let’s Hike T.O. is a non-profit organization with the mission to diversify the hiking community through easy access to safe and enjoyable hikes for anyone interested in hiking, with a particular focus on intentionally engaging people of colour, newcomers, and young adults.
Alma Bagundo has been volunteering with Let’s Hike T.O. since April 2024. She is Mexican, was a scout, and worked as a camp counselor before starting her professional career; a career that has given her the opportunity to move to different places in the world. She loves hiking and camping, as well as enjoys reading, dancing, meeting new people, and discovering new places in Toronto.
