Sophie Nadeau, Vice President, Reputation, Executive Training & National Media Lead, Edelman

Sophie Nadeau has 25 years of experience in newsrooms and boardrooms navigating the complicated world of storytelling and strategic communications. A former journalist with experience in some of Canada’s top newsrooms, Sophie heads Edelman’s national media team and leads strategic media counsel for clients. As a leader on Edelman Canada’s Reputation team, she has counselled more than 100 companies and organizations from every sector on a range of complex issues. From 2009-2014, she worked for the U.S. State Department at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, helping Americans connect with Canadians on matters of policy, diplomacy, and international affairs.

 

Wojtek Dabrowski, Managing Partner, Provident Communications

Wojtek is an expert-level communications leader with a proven track record of protecting and enhancing global brands and delivering sound strategic communications counsel to senior executives. He has been the Managing Partner for Provident Communications Inc. since he launched it in 2016. Before that, Wojtek has held senior leadership positions in the communications teams of Manulife, RBC and TD Bank Group. Before embarking on a career in corporate communications, Wojtek spent 10 years as a daily business journalist, covering various sectors for Thomson Reuters, the Financial Post and The Canadian Press.

 

Shabnum Durrani, Head, Corporate Communications, TTC

Shabnum Durrani is the Head of Corporate Communications with the TTC, where she oversees all internal and external communications for the organization. She joined the TTC after almost a decade in the healthcare sector in various leadership roles in public affairs and communications. Shabnum began her career as a lawyer and has experience in multiple areas including poverty and health law. She has also served as a senior policy advisor to several Cabinet Ministers at Queen’s Park.

 

Sean B. Pasternak, AVP, Global Communications, Manulife

Sean Pasternak began his career in journalism as a reporter and editor for several community publications and had a 14-year stint with Bloomberg News. He wrote about Canada’s financial services sector and interviewed the industry’s most prominent CEOs, C-Suite executives, policymakers, and government officials. Sean currently leads Manulife’s Global External Communications team, which includes the company’s media relations, social media and reputation management activities. In the past decade, Sean has also moderated events from Bloomberg News and A.M. Best Co., appeared on various podcasts, and as a panellist for Business Wire and the Gramercy Forum.
